The World Series is a best-of-seven matchup, as is the League Championship Series. So why not the divisional round? This postseason is the first where all four Division Series have gone the maximum five games. Detroit and San Francisco have advanced to the LCS; the Yankees and Orioles face off this afternoon, with the Cardinals and Nationals to follow.

All that means more baseball—and more revenue—so why not extend things a bit? Maybe the calendar is a reason. No one seems to interested in playing baseball through mid-November (the season starts way back in the beginning of April; it's a loooooong season already), but on the other hand, it does seem strange that different rounds of the postseason have different rules.
