The Tim Tebow experiment in New York has ended.

The New York Post reported on Monday that the New York Jets released the quarterback after using Tebow sparingly in 2012 with option runs and very few passes.

The move doesn't come as a shock to most fans as the Jets drafted West Virginia Mountaineer Quarterback Geno Smith in the 2nd Round of this weekend's NFL Draft and signing veteran David Garrard.

Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan said in press release,

“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow. Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped.  Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason.  We wish him the best moving forward.”
