Wes Welker suffered his third concussion in under a year this past weekend as he went down from a hit that drew a 15-yard personal foul on Texans safety D.J. Swearinger.  Welker's head collided with Swearinger's shoulder and arm as Welker went low after catching a pass from Peyton Manning.  Last November, Welker returned after one week from the first of two concussions.  The second, suffered 22 days later, kept him out of the final three regular season games.  When he returned for the playoffs, he wore a new, larger helmet designed to help reduce the impact of hits to his head.  Welker has continued wearing that helmet this preseason.

With all this being said, the idea of retirement has been thrown around for the veteran wide receiver but Denver head coach John Fox did not want to speculate on the situation.  "That has not been brought up at all," head coach John Fox said Monday, two days after Welker was concussed late in the second quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Houston Texans. "You'd have to talk to Wes in that area. I didn't sense that."

Denver will be back in action this week in their final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday at 7pm and it is more than probable that Welker will not play in this game.  You can hear all the action for this game right here on Sports Radio 1340 the FAN.  That brings us to our FAN poll of the day.
