Common practice for an NFL starting quarterback, the Dallas Cowboys newly named signal caller, Kellen Moore, spoke to the Dallas media corps on Wednesday. It's not always fun to be on the receiving end of the media's questions.

A dozen sports writers under the gun of their own deadlines taking quotes and conjuring up a slew of different stories has drawn the ire of athletes all over the sports landscape.

Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch's approach of refusing to speak at all only ignited his popularity and even landed him a major endorsement deal as the spokesman for Pepsi.

Oh the irony.

However, not speaking is not an option for an undrafted quarterback preparing to make his first NFL start three years after he entered the league.

Former Boise State superstar and Heisman finalist, Kellen Moore signed with the Detroit Lions in 2012 but never sniffed regular season action in large part due to his small stature.

At 6'0 tall, Moore's size is likely the only reason he wasn't drafted and furthermore why he didn't appear in an NFL regular season game until last Saturday.

After signing with the Dallas Cowboys this past off-season, Moore spent most of his time anchoring down the team's practice squad. But with the Cowboys rash of injury and ineffectiveness at his position in 2015, the window of opportunity has cracked open for the south-pawed underdog.

In anticipation of his first NFL start this Sunday when Dallas travels to Buffalo, the media lined up at Moore's locker after practice on Wednesday.

As expected, questions about his lack of height came flying in left and right.

Not surprisingly, Moore somewhat shrugged off that line of questioning saying he is, "Kind of used to the deal." Moore added, "I'm not the biggest guy and it's kind of been that way for a while. Did it in college. I'm used to it. It's not something that's going to give me issues. I understand there are times I have to move in the pocket to see things....not all of us are 6'5. Some of us shorter guys find ways to get it done."

It's clear the Cowboys fourth starting quarterback this season isn't lacking in the confidence department. The fact of the matter is the 6'0 quarterback did compile a 50-3 record at Boise State and was once invited to New York as a candidate for the greatest award in college football.

It's also true that the Dallas Cowboys desperately need a contingency plan for life after Tony Romo. No one is suggesting the final two games of the lost 2015 campaign will provide Moore an opportunity to win the job moving in to 2016. But maybe, just maybe the Cowboys have stumbled in to a kid talented enough to lead this team after Romo.

I mean they kind of are the same story aren't they?

Both entered the league as an undrafted free agent, getting their first regular season action in relief three years in to their careers against a team from New York in a prime time game played in Dallas....

A chilling thought.

The Cowboys are not playing for the post-season any longer, but this game Sunday could be a window in to the future of the organization.

Meaningless game? I think not.
