Jordan Montgomery pitched eight nearly perfect innings for South Carolina in a 2-0 victory over Arkansas. Pitching a near perfect game isn't a new experience for Montgomery however as he earned Freshman All-America honors. In commenting about his pitching performance, Montgomery said, "Definitely pitching in front of 20,000 people maybe, plus, had me a little nervous in the bullpen. But after that first inning and I guess the way I settled in and the way the team was playing behind me, I was just kind of staying on cruise control and just went."

South Carolina managed to stave off elimination twice in one day, as well as gaining a bit of revenge. Earlier in the week Arkansas beat them 2-1, snapping their record 22-game winning streak in the NCAA tournament.

Offense was at a premium, with only 11 hits given up. In fact, South Carolina Jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, and the score stood for the rest of the game.

Arkansas and South Carolina rematch today.
