The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools announced Friday that it is pushing its athletic schedule back.

TAPPS released a statement after a morning meeting stating that Strength and conditioning can begin on September 8, individual practices can start as early as September 14 and tournaments and meets can return on September 21. The first football games can be played on September 28.

Schools such as Trinity Christian, Lubbock Christian, and Christ the King will all be affected here in Lubbock. TAPPS football practice was originally scheduled to start August 3rd. That means the season has effectively been pushed back a month. The first football game was scheduled for August 28th. Tentatively, the playoffs will remain on the same dates and the regular season will be just five weeks.

The UIL is reportedly going to make an announcement about the start of fall sports and activities on Monday. Will they follow TAPPS and push the season back without changing the playoffs? Doing so would make the larger football districts not play everyone in the district, while Volleyball would probably head straight into district play.
