The No. 2 TCU Horned Frogs erupted for six runs in the top of the ninth inning to break open an 8-0 victory over the No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders in game one of the Big 12 series Thursday.

Tech starter Ryan Moseley (2-3) balked home the first run of the night in the fifth inning and then TCU executed a  squeeze bunt  in the eighth to pad the lead before the wheels came off the bus.

Freshman Jacob Patterson relieved Moseley, who went a career-high eight innings, and a career-best seven strikeouts, and failed to record an out before allowing two hits and two walks leading to two earned runs.

Jonathan Tripp came in, but provided little relief, giving up four runs, three earned, on four hits and one base on balls.

Moseley, who took the loss, uncorked three wild pitches in addition, to hitting one batter and walking three.

Mitchell Traver (6-0) allowed only five hits in six innings of work for TCU. Traver struck out four Red Raider batters.

Tech (18-12, 3-4) managed only five base hits by five different players. Junior catcher Tyler Floyd collected Tech's only extra-base hit with a double down the left-field line with two outs in the fifth inning.

Tyler Neslony reached base safely for the eleventh straight game and sophomore designated hitted Anthony Lyons extended his career-high hit streak to five games.

Tech (18-12, 3-4 Big 12) was led by sophomore righty Ryan Moseley (2-3), who pitched a career-high eight innings and matched a career-best seven strikeouts allowing only one earned run on three hits with three walks in the loss.

TCU (22-5, 5-2 Big 12) held a 1-0 lead through five innings and added a run in the eighth before plating six runs in the ninth for its first Big 12 road win of the season.

The Red Raiders had five different players with a base hit in the game, but no Tech player had more than one hit

TCU broke a scoreless game in the fifth with the first run of the game scoring on a balk.

No runs were scored in the sixth or seventh before TCU executed a squeeze bunt to score its second run taking a 2-0 lead in the eighth inning.

TCU was led by designated hitter Connor Wanhanen who went 3-for-5 with a run scored, triple and three RBI as one of four Horned Frogs with a base hit in the game.

Tech will look to even the series on Friday with senior left-handed pitcher Cameron Smith (3-2) making the start against TCU right-handed pitcher Preston Morrison (6-0) with a 2:07 p.m. first pitch at Rip Griffin Park. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Southwest.

The game hosted the second largest home crowd of the season Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
