The Texas Tech men's basketball team had arguably the greatest season in their history, being projected to finish 7th in the Big 12 this season and finishing in second place behind Kansas. As well as making it further in the NCAA tournament than any other Red Raider basketball team, with an exit in the Elite 8 from eventual champion Villanova.

The Red Raiders stayed ranked nearly the entire season and were as high as #6 in the nation. With the college basketball season coming to an end, the USA Today released their final rankings of the season and the Red Raiders finished off their season as the #6 team in the nation.

The top 25 poll for next season however, was not so kind to the Red Raiders, but with a stellar recruiting class coming in and hopefully with a certain freshman staying, Chris Beard and company can look to continue their success.
