Terra Evans, a former Texas Tech track and field standout, was named to the 2015-2016 USA Bobsled National Team roster.

Evans was one of 23 athletes selected after competing in a series of races at Mount Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, New York. This was the final step of the process to earn a spot on the team for this season. Evans was one of three rookies to make the team.

If she makes the Olympic Team, Evans will follow a large number of track and field athletes that have gone from competing at Texas Tech to competing in the Olympics.

Evans totaled seven All-America honors during him time at Texas Tech. Her 100M, 200M and 4x100M All-America honors in 2010 were the first in program history.

Wrapping up up her Texas Tech career in 2012, Evans’ name is still inked in the Red Raider record books. She holds the school record in the 4x100 relay at 43.53, and is ranked third in the 55M (6.82), fifth in the 60M (7.37), sixth in the 100M (11.28) and ninth in the outdoor 200M (23.24).

World Cup bobsled and skeleton racing kicks off in Altenberg, Germany, Nov. 30 - Dec. 6, 2015, before returning to the United States in 2016 with races in Lake Placid, New York, from Jan. 5 - 9 and Park City, Utah, from Jan. 11 - 16.

If the movie Cool Runnings taught me anything about life, it's that sprinters make great bobsledders.

Peace be the Journey, Terra.
