Texas Tech Baseball dropped its Big 12 series finale to No. 5 Texas A&M, 14-8, on Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field. Robbie Kilcrease threw a season low 1 1/3 innings in his start giving up six runs.

Tech shortstop Kelby Tomlinson drove in two runs with an RBI single up the middle in the fifth to cut the Aggies lead to six runs (13-7), but a run in the ninth on Kevin Whitehead’s RBI double would be the final run Tech would score. Tomlinson went 3-for-5 with three RBI, senior designated hitter Nick Popescu went 3-for-4 with three runs while Bo Altobelli (2-for-4), Barrett Barnes (2-for-5) and Whitehead (2-for-5) all finished with multi-hit games.

The Aggies won the series two games to one and still remain in a tie with Texas atop the Big 12 standings at 9-3, while Texas Tech is now 20-13 overall and 5-7 in the conference and now in 6th place behind Kansas. Texas Tech will begin a nine-game road trip starting Tuesday with a midweek, two-game, series at New Mexico at 1 p.m. at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque.
