Texas retail gas prices are down two cents from last week. The statewide gas price average in Texas is currently $2.61 for a gallon of regular gasoline, 45 cents more than this time last year.

Gas prices in Lubbock are low as $2.41 per gallon, 45 cents more than this time last year. Across the state, drivers in Midland are paying the most for their gas at $3.07 while drivers in McAllen are paying the least at $2.49.

AAA Texas says that U.S. gasoline supply and demand are balancing, but caution that we could see spikes in demand closer to Labor Day.

The current national average is $2.85 for a gallon of regular gasoline.
