The Texas Longhorns were held scoreless in an elimination game today  as they fell to the North Carolina Tar Heels 3-0 in the CWS.

The story will be all about the pitching of Tar Heels Kent Emanuel who held the Longhorns to 4 hits while pitching a complete game shut out. The freshman left-hander, Emanuel gave up 4 hits on the day while walking 1 batter.

Senior Cole Green started the day on the mound for Texas but was taken out after going 2 innings and giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. The Longhorns showed their depth in the bullpen, going through 5 pitchers in the game but it wasn't enough as the Longhorn bats were kept silent.

For the Tar Heels, 2 of their runs came in the 3rd when catcher Jacob Stallings singled to deep right to break up the scoreless game and give the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead. Stallings single scored Ben Bunting and Chaz Frank.

Center-fielder Bunting had an impressive day at the plate for the Tar Heels. Bunting went 4 for 5 on the day with 1 RBI in the 9th to extend the Tar Heel lead to 3-0. The score dampened any hopes of a Longhorn rally.

The Longhorns went 0-2 this year at the CWS. The Tar Heels will play again the Wednesday night. They will go on to face the loser of the Florida v. Vanderbilt game Wednesday night. The Gators and Commodores will play tonight.
