Poor first half shooting, turnovers and allowing points in the paint doomed Texas Tech in their 73-57 loss to Texas on Saturday at the Frank Erwin Center. It was the first Big 12 Conference win for Texas this season; they improved their record to (9-10, 1-5). Meanwhile, Texas Tech's record fell to (9-9, 2-5).

Julien Lewis led the Longhorns with 18 points. He was one of four Longhorns to score in double digits.

Cameron Ridley and Ioannis Papapetrou were a force inside for the Longhorns. Ridley pulled down 10 rebounds, scored 6 points and blocked 3 shots. Papapertrou scored 15 and had 5 assist. The strong inside play for Texas led to 38 points in the paint.

The Red Raiders were bit by the turnover bug in the first half.  At halftime they had 11 turnovers to 3 assists and were down to Texas 35-24. First half shooting was 30.8%

Jordan Tolbert led the Red Raiders with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Dusty Hannahs was the only other Red Raider in double digits with 10 points.

Texas Tech's next game is Saturday, February 2 at West Virginia.
