ORIGINAL STORY, BEFORE TADLOCK STATEMENT WAS RELEASED:

The good feelings enjoyed by Texas Tech Baseball fans after another trip to the College World Series may be short-lived.  The Austin American-Statesman on Tuesday broke the news of the Texas Longhorns trying to lure Texas Tech Baseball head coach Tim Tadlock down to Austin. Kirk Bohls of the Statesman says there is “mutual interest” between Tadlock and the Longhorns.

Tadlock just led the Red Raiders to their second College World Series appearance in three seasons. In May, he agreed to a six-year contract extension with Texas Tech that includes a non-compete clause. However, the contract extension doesn't take effect until July 1, potentially giving Tadlock two-and-a-half days to leave the Red Raiders without penalty. https://twitter.com/kbohls/status/747842986554204160

So far, no official statements have been released from either school concerning Texas' interest in Tadlock.

The Longhorns have been searching for new baseball head coach after Augie Garrido stepped down at the end of May.
