Texas Ranger Great Michael Young to Retire after 14 Year MLB Career

Texas Ranger fans will say goodbye to one of the legendary players in their franchise’s history on Friday.  Long time third baseman Michael Young has decide it is time to hang it up after 14 seasons in the MLB.

Young, 37, played with the Rangers from 2000-12 before being traded to the Phillies last winter. He played in 126 games with the Philadelphia Phillies before then being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 31st. He ended his career as a pinch-hitter LA during the National League playoffs.

The Rangers issued the following statement on Thursday night:  “The Texas Rangers want to congratulate Michael Young on his outstanding Major League career. For 12 seasons in a Rangers uniform, he was a standout performer on the field and the consummate role model in the community.”
