The Texas Rangers have acquired catcher Matt Treanor from Kansas City in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, as well as bringing in left-handed pitcher Michael Gonzalez from Baltimore in exchange for a player to be named later. Texas also recalled right-handed pitcher Wilmer Font and placed him on the 60-day disabled list and designated right-handed pitcher Tim Wood for assignment.

The roster moves come just a day after the team sent starting pitcher Darren O’ Day and outfielder Nelson Cruz to the disabled list while calling up outfielder Leonys Martin and right-handed pitcher Chris Hamburger from Triple A Round Rock to fill the roster voids.

The Rangers are currently leading the AL West by 3.5 games over the second place Los Angeles Angels.
