Before starting their weekend series at the Houston Astros, the Texas Rangers made a waiver wire trade with the Chicago White Sox.  The Rangers acquired right fielder Alex Rios, and cash, for a player to be named later and possible cash considerations.

According to MLB.com, the Rangers will receive $1 million from the White Sox to help play the remainder of this year's salary.  Before the trade to the Rangers, Rios was hitting .277 with 12 home runs, 55 RBIs and 26 SB. Rios is signed through 2014 with an option for 2015.

Rios will play right field for Texas, replacing Nellie Cruz, who was suspended 50 games under MLB's Anti-PED policy.
