Ian Kinsler and the Texas Rangers have finalized a new five-year contract that will make the leadoff hitter one of the best-paid second basemen in baseball.

The new deal, which begins next season, includes a club option for 2018.

Kinsler said after Monday night's game that he had agreed on the $75 million, five-year deal pending a physical that was completed Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Kinsler is a seven-year veteran who is scheduled to make $7 million this season.
