Texas Rangers Outfielder Josh Hamilton Allegedly Suffers Relapse

Rumors and speculation are beginning to swirl around Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton. According to "individuals familiar with the episode," Josh Hamilton was at a Dallas area bar Monday where he allegedly consumed alcohol.

Hamilton, who has had a troubled history with drugs, and too a much lesser degree alcohol, was suspended for three years for his substance abuse issues. Back when Hamilton was a member of the Tampa Bay organization, he missed the entire 2004-2005 season due to his substance abuse issues. Unfortunately this was his second relapse, as he relapsed back in 2009 where he drank alcohol to excess. Hamilton was back in the news then when pictures of his escapades were leaked online.

In a statement made to the Dallas Morning News, the Rangers said they were "aware of a situation, but we don't have further comment at this time." Hopefully this was simply a one time slip up. Hamilton has struggled with this in the past, but he has also overcome it. Best of luck to him.
