After a red-eye flight from the Left Coast to Minnesota yesterday, the Texas Rangers took on the Minnesota Twins to start a four-game series.

The Ranger bats only drove in two runs from Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz, but Nick Tepesch threw 6 2/3 innings giving up just a single run for his second win of the season for 2-1 win over the Twins. Twins starter Vance Worley took the loss after giving up two runs and six hits in five innings.

The Rangers are 15-7 on the season and have won six of their last 7 games.

The Houston Astros, fresh off a series win over the Seattle Mariners took on the Boston Red Sox in a four-game series, but didn't fare as well as the Rangers did.

David Ortiz homered to lead the Red Sox past the Astros 7-2 at Fenway Park. Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 10 strikeouts.

Houston's Philip Humber was shelled giving up 7 runs on 10 hits making his record on the mound to 0-5.

Boston improves to 15-7 on the season while the Astros fall to 7-15. Game 2 of the series is tonight at 6:10.
