Texas Rangers Stall in Detroit to the Tigers 6-5
Mike Adams gave up a solo home run in his Texas Rangers debut in a eighth-inning rain shower to Brennan Boesch and the Detroit Tigers downed the Rangers 6-5 Tuesday night.
Adams (0-1) was making his debut for the Rangers after coming over from San Diego just before the trade deadline and got the first out of the eighth in the outing before Boesch sent it over the right field wall at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Jose Valverde closed out the Rangers in the ninth inning for his 29th save in as many chances this season.
Joaquin Benoit (3-3) blew a 5-2 lead in the top of the eighth, allowing a solo homer to Nelson Cruz and a tying two-run shot by Mike Napoli.
Texas and Detroit play tomorrow night in game two of the three game series at 6:05 from Comerica Park.
