Two Doak Walker Award winners and the winningest baseball coach in school history headline this year’s class to be inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Honor.

Byron Hanspard, Byron “Bam” Hanspard, Larry Hays, Leigh Daniel, Amanda Renfro and Rick Williams will be inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Honor as part of the 20120 induction ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 2.

The six inductees will then be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to the Texas Tech football team’s game against Texas the next day.

  • Leigh Daniel (Track & Field '98-01) Distance: Daniel set school records in the outdoor 5000m and 10000m and the indoor 3000m and 5000m. Daniel won seven Big 12 Championships and two national championships (1999 indoor 5000m and 1999 outdoor 10000m) while being named All-American eight times. In 2006, she was named to the Big 12 10th Anniversary Team.
  • Larry Hays (Baseball 1987-2008) Coach: His final record stands at 1,508 wins and 860 losses, fourth all-time in NCAA history. Hays' No. 27 jersey was retired by TTU on March 23, 2009. Led TTU Baseball to its only two regular-season conference championships (SWC in 1995 and Big 12 in 1997) and two tournament championships (SWC in 1996 and Big 12 in 1998). Led Tech to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including the first-ever back in 1995 when the Red Raiders were sent to the Midwest Regional in Wichita, Kan. Of those nine NCAA appearances, three were held at Dan Law Field as Tech hosted NCAA Regionals in 1996, 1997 and 1999.

  • Bam Morris (Football '91-93) RB: 1st Team All-America ('93)... Winner of 1993 Doak Walker Award given to nation's top running back... Named first-team All-SWC ('92, '93)... Team MVP ('93)... Set school record with 1,752 yards rushing in '93 - currently 2nd in that category behind Byron Hanspard in '96... Gained 1,279 yards in '92... Set school record with 22 rushing TDs in '93... Set school record with 3,544 career rushing yards - currently 4th in that category... 37 career TDs remains 3rd in school record books... 134 pts scored in '93 remains atop the school record books for single-season points scored... Drafted in the 3rd round by Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • Amanda Renfro (Softball '98-01) Pitcher: Holds every significant pitching record in school record books... 2nd team All-American 2001... First Team All-Big 12 in '98 and '01... 2nd Team All Big 12 in '00...Is 6th in career innings in NCAA history, 6th in career strikeouts... Her 351.1 innings is 17th all-time in NCAA history... Led the nation in strikeouts in 2001 with 421... Led the Big 12 in the following categories (innings pitched and appearances in '99 - innings pitched, appearances, starts, strikeouts, complete games and opponent batting average in '00 - ERA, strikeouts (2nd in wins) in `01) ... Threw three no-hitters.
  • Ricky Williams (Football '97-01) RB: Named 2nd Team and 3rd Team All-America ('98)... Freshman All-America ('97)... Named 1st Team All-Big 12 ('01)... Named 2nd Team All-Big 12 ('98)... Named Team MVP ('01)... Set school record for single-game and single-season receptions... Left Tech 2nd on career receptions list...
