Texas Tech baseball’s 2012 schedule has been announced.

The Red Raiders will play 56 games, with 33 games at the recently-improved Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

They will play 32 games against 13 opponents that advanced to NCAA Regionals last season. Three games will also be played at the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

The 2012 season will begin with a nine-game homestand in the Red Raider Classic. The team will face Missouri State for opening day on Friday, February 17th at 4 p.m. Tech will also face Tennessee Tech during the tournament.

Also scheduled is the Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic, where they will go up against St. John’s and Northern Illinois. Those games are scheduled for February 24th through the 27th.

As for the first games away from home, the Red Raiders will face Rice, Arizona State, and TCU, all No. 1 seeds from last season, and No. 2 seed Arkansas, as well as Houston.

Red Raider Baseball Coach Dan Spencer commented on their schedule this season, saying “I feel like our schedule is one of the best in the country. Over half of our games are against teams that made it to the tournament last season. It is going to be a tremendous challenge for our program.”

Big 12 play will begin with a three-game series at Baylor, running March 9th to 11th. The regular season will wrap-up against Kansas State on May 17th through the 19th.
