Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt Releases Statement Concerning Associated Press Report

Just after 4:30 this afternoon, Texas Tech Athletics released the following statement from Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt:

In response to an Associated Press report filed earlier this afternoon by Steve Wine, Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt offers the following statement:

“There are membership levels within the Hurricane Club at the University of Miami.  While I was athletics director, the benefits and experiences Mr. Shapiro received were consistent with those provided to others at his membership level.  I never personally approved any special access for Mr. Shapiro to university athletics events or programs.”

Hocutt's statement is in response to this AP story, filed earlier today.
