The Texas Tech Athletics Department made an announcement Monday. No, it isn't who will be quarterback Saturday, but it's still pretty important.

Texas Tech fans will be able to buy official game day garb from The Matador, which will now retail licensed Texas Tech merchandise at athletic events, including inside Jones AT&T Stadium, United Supermarkets Arena and Dan Law Field.

"We are excited to announce this new partnership with The Matador," Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. "We are happy to partner with a local vendor who knows and understands Texas Tech University."

The Matador is a local shop at the corner of Broadway and University across from the campus of Texas Tech University. The Matador's specialty is Texas Tech gear and gifts, including Under Armour, the official brand of Red Raider Athletics. The Matador also took over a location on 98th and Quaker Ave. in the Lakeridge Commons Shopping Center.

The couple responsible for Advanced Graphix, a promotional products firm that is a licensed manufacturer for Texas Tech, also runs The Matador. Steve and Stephanie Massengale are very happy for the new opportunity.

"We are so honored to be partnered with Texas Tech Athletics," said Massengale. "Fans will appreciate the shopping experience inside the athletic venues compared to the past. Our goal is to provide great product selection with an efficient checkout process to get you back to the game. Our partnership with Texas Tech Athletics and Under Armour will bring more new and exclusive products to Red Raiders fans."
