Texas Tech Baseball Beats Miami to Advance to First-Ever NCAA Super Regional
It took a day longer than most Red Raider fans would have wanted, but Texas Tech Baseball beat Miami 4-0 in the Coral Gables Regional Final to advance to its first-ever NCAA Super Regional.
Lefty starter Cameron Smith pitched a complete game shutout for Red Raiders in the elimination game.
Both teams missed opportunities to score in the early and middle innings, but Texas Tech took advantage of a Miami miscue to put two runs on the board in the top of the seventh inning. A Zack Davis single in the eighth inning added two insurance runs for Red Raiders to give them a 4-0 lead before Miami's final two frames.
Texas Tech will play College of Charleston this weekend in a Super Regional played in Lubbock. The series schedule and ticket information for Rip Griffin Park is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
Also, Texas Tech had a number of players named to Coral Gables Regional All-Tournament Team: 1B Eric Gutierrez, 3B Ryan Long, SS Tim Proudfoot and P Dylan Dusek. Dusek was also named the regional's Most Outstanding Player.
