In spite of having a 13-8 lead in the late innings, the Texas Tech Red Raiders fell to the New Mexico Lobos 14-13 Wednesday afternoon in college baseball action. The Red Raiders jumped out to early leads of 2-0 and 6-3 after the first two innings at Isotopes Field in Albuquerque.

The Lobos managed to take an 8-7 lead after 3 innings, but Texas Tech scored five runs in that inning with the help of All-American outfielder Barrett Barnes with a three run RBI triple and Bo Altobeli brought in another run with a base hit for 12-8 Tech lead. The Red Raiders added one more run in the sixth before the Lobos rallied.

New Mexico scored one run in the sixth and one in the seventh before scoring four runs in the ninth to beat the Red Raiders. Texas Tech beat the Lobos 9-5 in Tuesday’s game in the two-game series. The Red Raiders will next play Missouri at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park on Friday in a three-game series.
