No. 27 Texas Tech (12-5, 0-0) scored 21 runs Tuesday night at Dan Law Field in Rip Griffin Park against the hapless Alabama A&M Bulldogs. Wednesday the scored 25 for good measure in the midweek series finale against the Bulldogs for a 25-5 shellacking before they start Big 12 Conference play against Baylor on Friday.

John Neeely made his first start of the season pitched a perfect first inning before giving way to reliever David Paiz (1-0) who earned his first victory of the season pitched a solid four innings giving one unearned run on just two hits with six strikeouts. Sanchez Tucker took the loss for the Bulldogs pitching 4.1 innings giving up 16 runs, 11 of them being earned.

At the plate, Tech scored early and often with five runs in the first inning, four in the third inning, and two more in the fourth inning to take a commanding 11-0 lead before A&M could get on the scoreboard. The Red Raiders were led by Tim Proudfoot at the plate going 4 of 6 with 6 RBI and Bo Altobeli added in 4 RBI while going 3 of 3.

Texas Tech will face Baylor this weekend to open Big 12 Conference play in Waco.
