Both the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Lady Raider Basketball squads will return to the hardwood Wednesday evening to kick-off Big 12 conference play.

The Red Raiders enter the game at 7-5 and coming off a 62-54 win over Southeastern Louisiana. It was their second straight win. Oklahoma State meanwhile is coming off a 67-61 setback to Virginia Tech in Stillwater on Saturday, meaning the Cowboys have lost four of their last five.

Texas Tech is 5-10 in Big 12 openers and 4-11 in Big 12 road openers. Tip-off between the Red Raiders and Cowboys from Stillwater is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The 13th-ranked Lady Raiders will also begin conference play Wednesday evening against Oklahoma State but from the United Spirit Arena. Tip-off for that game is also scheduled for 7 p.m.

It will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Nov. 17 plane crash carrying coach Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna and boosters Olin and Paula Branstetter crashed, claiming the lives of all four on board.

Texas Tech will pay tribute to the victims of the plane crash during halftime. Then play the Oklahoma State alma mater before the Matador Song at the conclusion of the game.

The Cowgirls have handled the adversity well on the court going 8-1 overall, and not losing until a 64-63 loss Friday against Long Island.
