For the second time in as many seasons, Texas Tech Red Raider catcher Bo Altobelli has been named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch list. Altobelli is one of just 11 catchers to be named to the watch list for two consecutive seasons.

Altobelli is off to a good start this season batting .306 with seven runs, one homer, six RBIs and is 3 for 3 in stolen bases. In his career Altobelli is a .314 hitter while having played in 78 games with 36 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, two home runs, 35 RBI, 24 walks and only 26 strikeouts with 7-of-8 stolen bases while posting a .983 fielding percentage. According to the website, "The Johnny Bench Award was formed to be awarded annually to the nations top collegiate catcher based on athletic ability, sportsmanship, team leadership and character."

Its a tremendous honor for Altobelli, and highlights the good he is doing for the Red Raiders, especially considering he has done it twice in a row. Best of luck to him.
