Beginning August 19, 2016, Texas Tech University will only allow clear bags into Jones AT&T Stadium and all other school athletic venues.

According to the school, the policy will "provide a safer atmosphere for all fans as well as significantly speed up the entry process into all venues." The policy applies to all ticketed Texas Tech events.

Here's the list of what fans will be able to bring into the stadium once the new bag policy goes into effect:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.” (Official Texas Tech team logo clear plastic tote bags will be available through The Matador and United Supermarkets).
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the venue with one of the clear plastic bags.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.

Purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, diaper bags, binocular cases and non-approved seat cushions and chairbacks (i.e. cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments or covers and/or are larger than 16 inches in width) are prohibited.

Texas Tech says that smart phones, cameras without long lenses and binoculars will still be allowed into the venues.
