Texas Tech Red Raider Basketball won for the first time since December 30th and earned their first Big 12 Conference victory of the season Saturday night in Lubbock. The Red Raiders defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 65-47 to improve to 8-16 overall and 1-11 in Big 12 Conference play while Oklahoma falls to 13-11 overall and 3-9 in the Big 12.

The Red Raiders fought back from a 22-18 deficit with three minutes left in the first half to go on a 7-0 run to finish the half up 25-22. Sophomore guard Javaris Willis returned to form for Texas Tech scoring 12 of his 21 points in the first half. Senior Center Robert Lewandowski added in 16 points in his best overall effort of the season.

Texas Tech took advantage of a plethora of Sooner mental errors with offensive fouls and turnovers in the middle of a 9-1 run midway through the second half and held them to only 22 points in the second half. The Red Raiders used the only constant in their rough season, their stingy defense, to wreak havoc on a reeling Sooners team who has now lost five of their past six games.

Texas Tech takes to the court next Tuesday night hosting Texas A&M at 6 p.m. while Oklahoma will host Texas on Tuesday night in Norman.
