Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball used runs scored in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings to defeat the Dallas Baptist Patriots 7-1 Wednesday afternoon at Dan Law Field in Rip Griffin Park. The Red Raiders and Patriots were scoreless through the first five innings before Dallas brought a run across as Austin Elkins scored from third after a triple to lead off the inning to give the Patriots a brief lead at 1-0.

In the bottom of the 6th, Texas Tech took a 2-1 lead after an RBI single by Bryant Burleson and then into bottom of the 7th Barrett Barnes tripled bringing in two runs for Tech and then was brought in after Stephen Hagen doubled to give the Red Raiders a 6-1 lead. Barnes would drive in Jamodrick McGruder on a RBI single to push the lead to a commanding 7-1 edge.

Aaron Corwin (1-0) earned his first victory of the season for Texas Tech pitching 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Rusty Shellhorn who threw 5 shutout innings while Dallas Baptist's reliever Aaron Gilbreath took the loss.  Texas Tech (19-15, 3-9 Big 12, 9th place) will take a break from conference action this weekend as they host former Southwest Conference rivals, the University of Houston starting Friday.
