Texas Tech’s Oct. 8 matchup with Texas A&M will be the official Black Out game for the upcoming 2011 Football season as thousands voted for the game in social media.

The Texas Tech Athletic Department does want to remind fans about wearing the color red to games this year and on Fridays before each game to promote, "Raider Power Fridays" in Lubbock.

Also, September 2nd will be College Colors Day which is a national movement to celebrate the start of the new college football season. College Colors Day promotes higher education and celebrates the achievements, spirit and traditions of colleges and universities.

Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt encourages all fans to wear Red and Black every Friday during the 2011-12 athletics season to show Texas Tech pride and spirit. Fans can showcase their spirit each Friday by submitting pictures to the athletics department through facebook (www.facebook.com/ttuathletics) and twitter (using the hashtag #raiderpowerfriday).
