Tubby Smith and the Texas Tech men’s basketball team had their eight game win streak snapped as they fell to Loyola Chicago by a score of 62-44 on Monday night.  Justin Gray (pictured on the right) led Texas Tech with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, but as a team Tech shot just 34% from the floor.  If that wasn’t bad enough, the Red Raiders were also held without a single three point shot being made as they were 0-21 from deep.

"They made us take the outside shot," said Texas Tech's Tubby Smith, who added it was the worst 3-point display he has ever seen from his teams in 24 years as a head coach. "Both teams were playing solid defense. They made us take the outside shot. (Loyola) was quicker to the ball. Their ability to get loose balls helped them. We passed up some open looks and took some tougher shots."

With the loss, Tubby smith and company now sit at 9-2 on the season, as they are still looking for their first win away from the United Supermarkets arena.  Tech will get that chance today as they now face Houston for third place on Tuesday.  It marks the second consecutive year the Red Raiders will face Houston in a third place game.  Tip off for this game is set for 8pm tonight from Las Vegas.
