The preseason hype is finally over as it's game-week for Texas Tech Football. Head coach Tommy Tuberville, Seth Doege and D.J. Johnson addressed the media yesterday.

The Red Raiders take on Northwestern State, Saturday at 6p at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Tuberville's happy to be playing games and to be talking about competing to wins, "I know our players are looking forward to the season.  It's kind of another step in the process of trying to build on a football team that can compete for championships.  I don't know how close we are.  Only time will tell."

He also said that this year's team is definitely different from last season, "It's all about attitude.  It's all about determination.  Now the ball's in their court.  We've got a chance.  We've got a chance to make some waves, how big of waves, time will only tell in the next few weeks, in the coming months how far we've come.  But I think that anybody that's seen us practice can tell there is no doubt we've got more weapons.  We've got more depth.

"I think the attitude has changed in terms of defense of what we want to do and how we want to do it.  As a head coach, just watching things over the last couple of years from the first group that we've had until this group, the determination of, hey, you know, this is what we want to do and this is how we want to get there, it's all changed.  So it should be a lot of fun."

Starting quarterback Seth Doege is ready to put last year behind him. He's also anxious to see what his wide receivers can do, "A lot of weapons, a lot of speed.  There are guys that can do multiple things and guys that can do different things.  Marcus Kennard is a big body.  He can really play the jump ball well.  Then you have the little guy such as Jordan Davis or Jakeem Grant that can wiggle and do some things with the ball in their hand.

"So we have a lot of dangerous, dangerous guys on the skill wideout area.  But at the same time, we need to prove it on Saturday that they can live up to all the hype that's been talked about them."
