Some Texas Tech football season ticket holders got a very unexpected surprise as standout players Eric Ward and Austin Zouzalik made stops around the city of Lubbock to visit with season ticket holders. Ward and Zouzaliks efforts are part of a promotional tour by the Texas Tech ticket office in an attempt to sell 36,000 season tickets for the upcoming football season.

The upcoming football season is highlighted by marque matchups with Oklahoma, Texas, and newcomer West Virginia. Commenting on the state of the Texas Tech football program, Austin Zouzalik stated, “Sometimes we lose sight of what Tech football means to this community, what it means to the people. You can kind of see it on their faces.”

Zouzalik also added, “The coaches are always reminding us we played terrible at home. These fans deserve to see better during home games. It’s nice to see people still buying season tickets. They said we’re a little bit ahead of where we were last year at this point. It’s nice to come out here and see people who aren’t fair-weather fans. These people are committed.”

The Texas Tech football team is confident that the 2012 season will be different than the 2011 season. Tech fans who have no picked up their season tickets yet can purchase them up here.
