Three players who would have provided an impact on the field for Texas Tech in 2016 have been removed from the program.

Here is the statement from Texas Tech:

Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury has removed three student-athletes from the Red Raider football roster. Sophomore offensive lineman Robert Castaneda, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Trace Ellison and sophomore linebacker Dakota Allen have all been removed from the roster and will no longer participate in team activities, due to a failure to uphold student-athlete expectations.

Texas Tech will have no further comment on the dismissals.

Castaneda and Allen had the opportunity to be full time starters. We will keep you updated as information comes out.
