Texas Tech Athletics announced Wednesday afternoon the scheduling of a home and home series with a former Southwest Conference rival.

The Red Raiders will play the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 2014 and 2015 season in non-conference action. The 2014 game is scheduled to be played in Lubbock on September 13th with the 2015 game played at Razorback Stadium in Fayettville.

"We are thrilled to begin a home-and-home series with the University of Arkansas," Kirby Hocutt, Director of Athletics said.

"Texas Tech and Arkansas had many memorable games while conference foes in the Southwest Conference, so this should be very exciting for the fans.  We feel like we will be placing ourselves in great position as we kickoff the College Football Playoff era in 2014, with a non-conference opponent the caliber of Arkansas and a challenging Big 12 schedule."

The upgrade in the non-conference scheduling for the Red Raider program is a departure in philosophy from past Red Raider head coaches. Arkansas is the first BCS opponent for Tech in the non-conference schedule since 2003.

The last time a BCS Conference opponent visited Jones AT&T Stadium was in 2002 when  Ole Miss and North Carolina State made the trip to Lubbock. It was also the senior season for Red Raider Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury.

The 2014 home-schedule for the Red Raiders will feature Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Arkansas will be led by new head coach Bret Bieliema who takes over a Razorback program which finished 4-8 in 2012.
