Texas Tech Football Starts 2012 Practices [VIDEO]

Lubbock, TX (1340TheFan.com) -- Monday marked the first day of practice for the 2012 Texas Tech Red Raider Football team.

After going 5-7 a year ago, head coach Tommy Tuberville has stressed urgency for the 2012 season, especially on the defensive side of the ball.  Tuberville says the defense doesn't have to be great, just better overall and able to stop the run.

New defensive coordinator Art Kaufman says 2012 is a new year and the defense needs to be focused on what they're doing now, not what happened last season.

Texas Tech opens the 2012 season at home against Northwestern State on September 1.
