The Texas Tech women’s golf team made a run up the leaderboard Tuesday, finishing the Susie Berning Maxwell Classic in second, just a stroke back of tournament winner Oklahoma.

The Lady Raiders entered the final round 11 strokes back of second-day leader Texas A&M, but finished with a 9-over 297 final round that helped Tech climb the leaderboard from fourth place all the way up to a share of the tournament lead during the back nine.

Despite the Aggies struggling on the final day, the Sooners flourished to finish a stroke better than Tech, thanks to a 12-over card that left Oklahoma at 14-over on the tournament. Texas A&M finished with a 24-over final round and fell into a tie for third in the tournament with Florida State with 19-over.

The Lady Raiders will take nearly two weeks off before returning to the course on Oct. 30 for the UTSA Alamo Invitational. The two-day tournament will be played at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course in San Antonio.
