Six $4,500 scholarships are on the line for Texas Tech students who wear the best costumes to the Halloween day game against Oklahoma State.

Over $27,000 in scholarship money was raised from contest sponsors, which include Texas Tech University System Chancellor Robert Duncan, Chancellor Emeritus Kent Hance, Texas Tech President Duane Nellis, Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt and Head Football Coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Duncan, Nellis and Texas Tech Women’s Basketball Coach Candi Whitaker will serve as judges for the contest.

The costumes will be judged on three categories: scary, funny and Texas Tech-themed. Each category will have a male and female winner that will be at the end of halftime. Texas Tech athletic employees will be stationed at the student entrance of Jones AT&T Stadium where they will select nine finalist for the on-field judging at halftime.

The six $4,500 scholarships are for the spring 2016 semester. This is the second time that Kingsbury has called out the students to come to the game in costume.

In 2013, Kingsbury issued a hashtag for the event #letsgetweird. Kingsbury offered a $1,000 first prize for the best costume displayed when Texas Tech hosted Oklahoma State on Nov. 2, 2013.

Maybe Kliff will put on Mike Leach costume and pretend like it's 2006 and beat Oklahoma State at home?
