Texas Tech Has Hired Tubby Smith According to the Associated Press

The Associated Press (AP) has reported that Texas Tech University and  Tubby Smith have agreed to terms for Smith to become the next Head Coach in Lubbock.

1340 The Fan spoke to an unnamed representative at the Texas Tech Athletics Office on Monday afternoon and was told that there was no information to release on the AP story reporting Smith and Tech agreed to terms.

Texas Tech spokesperson Blayne Beal announced on his twitter after the AP report came out saying,

Smith, the former Minnesota and Kentucky Head Coach, was fired two weeks ago after Minnesota lost to Florida in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

Earlier on Monday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that Smith will decide at the end of the day to accept or decline the head coaching job at Texas Tech.
