Texas Tech Lady Raiders Beat Southern Utah to Open Basketball Travelers Invitational

Despite going over 10 minutes without making a field goal, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders (3-1) beat Southern Utah 73-54 at the United Spirit Arena on Friday.
The Lady Raiders were led offensively by Casey Morris (pictured, right) and Christine Hyde. Morris played 37 minutes and scored 18 points with 6 rebounds. Meanwhile, Hyde had 16 points, with 6 rebounds. Amber Battle came off the bench and pulled down 10 rebounds and scored 3 points. One other starter scored in double digits for the Lady Raiders, that was Kelsi Baker. She went 4/10 from the field with 5 free throws, to score 14 points.
Free throw shooting was the story of the game as Texas Tech went 30/43 from the charity stripe. Southern Utah had half of the opportunities, going 15/24 from the free throw line. Without the free throws, the game would have been significantly closer as Texas Tech shot 28.6% from the field, going 18/63 for the game.
The Lady Raiders continue play in the Basketball Travelers Invitational on Saturday, hosting Nicholls State at 12 Noon.
