Texas Tech Lady Raiders Extend Their Winning Streak with Victory Over TCU
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are now in sole possession of second place in the Big 12 Conference after Sunday’s 53-42 win over TCU. Texas Tech extended their winning streak to four and their record is now (16-4, 6-2). TCU’s record fell to (7-11, 0-7) and they are in last place in the Big 12.
Chynna Brown continued her stellar senior season for the Lady Raiders by having her first career double-double on Sunday. Brown scored 23 points and pulled in 12 rebounds. The 23 points was also a career high for Brown.
Lady Raider head coach Kristy Curry (pictured) said Brown’s great game was a part of a team effort, “(Brown) being aggressive, wanting the basketball in her hands, her teammates doing a great job of finding her. It’s just her doing ‘Whatever I can to help my team win.’ She has been doing that for us and I am just excited and happy for her, she has worked so hard.”
Other Lady Raider scoring figures include Casey Morris and Kelsi Baker, each with 8 points. Christine Hyde had 10 rebounds and 7 points.
The Lady Raiders shot 33% from the field for the game and only made 1/8 free throws. Defensively, they forced 23 turnovers and grabbed 10 steals.
Texas Tech’s next game is Wednesday, January 30, against Baylor. Tip-off is at 7 o’clock at the United Spirit Arena.
