Texas Tech has eight players on the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team. The Academic Team obviously is a great honor for these guys who put in incredible time and effort into being a student as well as an athlete.

Leading the pack was sophomore wide receiver and accounting major Cameron Batson, who was one of three players in the Big 12 who was nominated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

The other 1st team honorees for Texas Tech were sophomore linebacker/mechanical engineering major Dakota Allen, sophomore quarterback/business finance major Patrick Mahomes and junior defensive back/sociology/criminology major Justis Nelson.

Raking in second team honors were senior wide receiver/MBA enrollee Brad Pearson, senior running back/kinesiology major DeAndre Washington, senior defensive back/agribusiness major John White and senior punter/kickoff specialist/marketing major Taylor Symmank.

Washington and Symmank are three-time Academic All-Big 12 honorees, while Pearson earned the honor for the second year.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Congratulations to all of these players on the major accomplishment!
