Lubbock, TX (1340TheFan.com) — Tommy Tuberville likes what he sees from his quarterback so far during the 2012 preseason.

Seth Doege will be taking the snaps under center again for the Red Raiders, the senior quarterback has shown Coach Tuberville some strong leadership qualities, something he didn't show as much of in last season.

"He's the type of quarterback that you want to step up and say words in the huddle," said Tuberville.  "He's really grown up in a years time."

Tuberville says Doege's arm strength has improved from a year ago and noticed he has more of a quick release in preseason camp.

Doege, who is a former Frenship Tiger, has another Tiger alum joining him in the Texas Tech quarterback group this season.  Tucker Tuberville, Coach Tuberville's son.

"It's a little different having your son on the field listening to you talk," said Tuberville.  Of course he's been around many locker rooms and many speeches before.  I'm proud of him being out here.  It beats sitting at home and watching television I guess."

So far this preseason Tucker has gotten limited reps and is expected to be part of the practice squad scout team.  Tucker hopes to become a football coach after his time at Texas Tech.
