LUBBOCK, TX (1340TheFan.com)--- Gameday will finally be here for the Red Raider football team on Saturday as its first opponent, Northwestern State, will pay a visit to Jones AT&T Stadium.

"I know our players are looking forward to the season," said Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville. "It's another step in the process of trying to build a football team that can compete for championships. I don't know how close we are, only time will tell."

Northwestern State will be traveling to Lubbock on Wednesday, which is earlier than planned as Louisiana and the rest of the southeast portion of the country brace for the impact of Hurricane Issac A Northwestern State official tells 1340 The Fan that the Demons will stay in Dallas on Wednesday night and will arrive in Lubbock on Thursday.

"I grew up in that area, so I know what they are going through," said Tuberville. "They'll have some guys who will have their minds on some other things for a few days. Hopefully everything clears out, we can have a good game, and they get home safely.

Tuberville also announced on Tuesday that special teams standout and back-up wide receiver Aaron Fisher will be out for the season. The junior suffered a broken leg while running in practice. Also injured is offensive lineman Tony Morales who suffered a knee injury. Morales is expected to miss the next two weeks.
