The Red Raiders started strong against the number 10 Kansas Jayhawks, but couldn't maintain it as they lost 81-46.

Gillispie was quoted after the game as saying, ""We didn't make any shots from beyond the 3, and we didn't have any low post presence, When you don't guard better than you did, we missed so many assignments defensively. We didn't help each other defensively enough and just got to go back to the drawing boards."

For Kansas, Thomas Robinson had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Jayhawks, who managed to shut down the Tech offense for most of the game. The Jayhawks pushed the ball into the paint over and over, and the Red Raiders simply couldn't keep pace.

Tech actually led 16-15 at one point during the game, but Kansas went on a 20-4 run to lead 35-20 at halftime. All in all it was an ugly game for the Red Raiders, including Terran Petteway being ejected for a flagrant foul for elbowing Connor Teahan. Petteway also got a technical foul earlier as Travis Releford tried to inbound the ball.
