Texas Tech's first game of the 2015 season against the Sam Houston State University Bearkats was an offensive showdown. See some hard-hitting plays from the game.

Texas Tech came out on top against SHSU, outscoring the Bearkats 59-45 in a scorcher of a game. And not just because of the fiery offensive onslaughts both teams unleashed.

After halftime, plenty of fans had enough of the relentless sun and headed out of Jones AT&T Stadium to watch the rest of the game someplace cooler.

Starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 425 yards with 4 touchdowns. Offensively, Jakeem Grant was a standout player, returning a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown. Receiver Devin Lauderdale caught eight passes, putting up 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Starting the third quarter with a 42-31 Texas Tech lead, the teams continued to exchange points for the remainder of the game. In the fourth quarter, the Bearkats added two more touchdowns, leading to a final score of 59-45.
